Charles Lindbergh’s monumental triumph resulted in great tragedy for his family when his young son was kidnapped and killed. Ensuing federal legislation, known as the "Lindbergh Law",  has resulted in a different type of triumph, today aiding millions faced with similar tragedy.

Still the legacy of the kidnapping lives on as dozens are still searching to find who kidnapped the Lindbergh baby and as ten thousands of people are being saved by the "Lindbergh Law" every year.

"I have seen fame at work in Charles's life and in my life and , of course, in our life. There were penalties and prices that fame exacted, which were not of our choosing. But there were benefits, too - opportunities, really-that gave Charles a role in aeronautics and conservation that was ahead of his time."
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh, 1977

"A decade later, when our tragedy was behind us, buried and overlaid with new life, I wrote a poem which described this transmutation, as I had experienced it."
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh, 1972
